Architecture for Humanity Seattle provides sustainable, inclusive, community based, professional design services for underserved communities.

Volunteers Needed: SAP Training

AfH Seattle + AIA Washington Council  Disaster Preparedness and Response Safety Assessment Program (SAP) Training   We need volunteers to help photograph attendees and distribute and collect paper work for Cal EMA certification for our SAP program in Tacoma.  Volunteers receive free SAP training and related manuals in exchange for staffing the event. - 1 volunteer for Friday April 5, 9am - 4pm (lunch provided) - 2 volunteers for Saturday April 6, 9am - 4pm (lunch on your own)

Volunteers Needed!   -Designers: A Non-profit LGBT youth program in Pierce County needs our assistance designing a new space for a shared community center and adult outpatient clinic.  They have 2 possible sites and need assistance ranging from drafting a program to creating possible layouts.  They need to move before the end of the year.  We'll be meeting with them next week to kickoff.  Be prepared to travel to Tacoma, carpooling available.

  On October 18, twelve states and the District of Columbia will be the sites of a coordinated earthquake preparedness drill and AIA National, along with Architecture for Humanity, are encouraging architects to get involved. By visiting www.shakeout.org anyone can commit to participating in their own small way by conducting an earthquake drill in their office, creating or revising emergency plans, or simply taking a moment to recognize the seismic hazards in your immediate area.

Volunteer Opportunity: Project Rep AfH Seattle is looking for a Project Representative to attend a monthly project meeting with our partners Architects Without Borders.  Duties will include attendance at an AfH project update meeting once per month (time flexible), reviewing ongoing correspondence with project managers, and attending the monthly AwB project meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.  The opportunity shouldn't consume more than 10 hours per month.

AfH Seattle Project Meeting Taco Truck Design Review & Build Planning Tuesday 9/18, 6pm at GGLO 1301 1st Ave - meet at the entry on the north side of the Harbor Steps.  If you see an AfH sign on the door then you're in the right place.  Call 206-714-2679 for any assistance. We'll be meeting to review the current design for the El Rincon Taco Truck design and organizing ourselves for the final build.  The sun is quickly waning and we need to fabricate before the rain comes back. this is a good learning experience being trained like a carpenter or furniture making at the same time having fun by getting to know some new people to be friends. this is also something like of a team building activities.
