AIA Seattle Disaster Preparedness & Response Committee, along with local chapters of Architecture For Humanity (AfH) and Architects Without Borders (AWB) are hosting an evening event for the architectural community to raise awareness of the hazards of the Pacific Northwest, and opportunities for individuals to get involved with local efforts.
Representatives from AIA-Seattle and Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW) will share details on recent response efforts, including Hurricane Katrina, tsunami in Japan, earthquake in Haiti, and flooding in Southwest Washington. Organizations will all share progress on current efforts toward collaboration, as well as plans for mitigation, response, and recovery.
Details will also be provided on upcoming sessions of ATC 20-21 Post-Earthquake Safety Evaluation of Buildings and registration with the WABO Building Safety Emergency Responder Program for ATC-trained volunteers.
Architecture for Humanity Seattle will introduce a proposed grant to enable members of the design community to receive ATC 20-21 or Safety Assesment Training for free.
Don't miss this opportunity to prepare your community for the inevitable.
